About Love of Others


Communication 

To discuss the importance of peaceful communication,

explain different ways of communicating and encourage the students to ask clarifying questions


Compassion

To introduce the principle of compassion to the students, inspire them to reflect on their attitude to compassion and discuss with them that compassion can take many forms

 

Consent

To introduce the students to the concept of consent, to inspire them to “read” other people and respect their choices and to stand firmly for their own body choices


Consideration

To inform the students about the meaning of consideration, discuss the importance of consideration and what it might look like in their daily life and to inspire them to take more considerate actions


Cooperation 

To discuss the advantages of cooperation with the students and encourage them to cooperate with others  


Don’t give away what isn’t yours

To explain the concept of ownership to the students and inspire them to share and give only what belongs to them 


Empathy 

To introduce the students to the concept of empathy and teach the fact that each person has a unique individual life  


Equality  

To introduce the principle of equality to the students and help them understand that inferiority and superiority are only imagined 


Ethics-Golden Rule

To introduce the students to the concept of ethics and the golden rule 


Friendship 

To educate the students about what it means to be a good friend to someone and about appropriate ways of making new friends 


Helpfulness 

To inspire the students to reflect on their willingness to help and to be independent and to encourage them to be helpful without micromanaging 


Kind Humour

To raise awareness in the students about how their actions and humour can hurt others and to inspire them to be ethical 


Kindness 

To introduce the students to the ripple effect that kindness

can have and to inspire them to be kind to others


Resolving Conflict peacefully

To educate the students about conflict, the causes of it and

to present strategies of resolving conflict peacefully


Setting and respecting boundaries 

To discuss the concept and importance of boundaries, encourage the students to think about their own boundaries and be assertive about them and to respect the boundaries of others  


Sharing 

To inspire the students to explore and reflect on their feelings about sharing and to practice sharing equally 


Standing up for Others 

To encourage the students to stand up rather than stand by 


Some Issues regarding Love of Others

Assumptions 

To educate the students about assumptions, why they are a

problem and how to challenge them


Bossiness 

To encourage the students to inspect their own level of bossiness, show the difference between bossiness and boundaries and give the children tools to respond to the bossiness of others 


Comparison 

To explain the futility of comparison to others and inspire the students to measure their own progress honestly 

 

Envy 

To explore the feeling of envy, remind the students of feeling through their emotions and to remember being grateful for what we can do and for what we have 


Exclusion 

To explore the concept of exclusion and encourage the students to include others wherever possible  


Greed 

To educate the students about the feeling of greed, why we may have it, the effects of acting greedily and how to eliminate the feeling of greed in ourselves  


Laziness 

To investigate the concept of laziness, to discuss when doing nothing is actually beneficial and that becoming independent

is important 


Prejudice 

To introduce the concept of prejudice to the students and reflect together what impact having prejudices can have on ourselves and others  


Protection 

To introduce the students to the concept of safety, inspire them to have faith in God’s protection and to use protective gear when needed 


Teasing

To educate the students about boundaries and to inspire them to consider other people’s feelings and act ethically 


Violence

To introduce to the students the concept of physical, emotional and verbal violence and provocation
